Apple discloses three iPhone settings changes that can potentially double the lifespan of your battery:
Many iPhone users are familiar with the anxiety that comes with receiving the 'Low Battery' alert on their devices. However, Apple has provided three settings that can be modified to potentially double the battery life of your smartphone. These settings include auto-brightness, Auto-Lock, and location access adjustments. These features are preset to default levels but can be easily modified with a simple toggle.
Auto-brightness:
The auto-brightness feature on electronic devices automatically adjusts screen brightness according to the surrounding light conditions. It utilizes built-in light sensors to gauge ambient light levels, enhancing readability, minimizing eye strain, and prolonging battery life when set correctly. To access auto-brightness, navigate to Settings and select Accessibility. Within the display and accessibility section, choose display and text size. Then, scroll to the auto-brightness option and toggle it off. This action will prevent the device from automatically adjusting to the surrounding light.
Apple has indicated that users can modify three settings to potentially double their smartphone's battery life, including auto-brightness, Auto-Lock, and location access adjustments. Activating Night Shift from this menu can also help extend battery life.
This feature operates similarly to auto-brightness by utilizing the time and geolocation of the iPhone to determine sunset times in your area, thereby reducing brightness to better align with the ambient light.
Auto-Lock:
This feature automatically powers off and locks the device after a designated period of inactivity, which is intended to conserve battery life. Apple recommends that users enable this feature. To locate it, go to Settings and select Display and Brightness. Then, scroll down to find Auto-Lock and reduce the time setting to enhance your iPhone's battery longevity.
The tech company also suggests disabling the Always-On feature, which keeps a dimmed display active to show notifications even when the device is locked, as it can have a slight impact on battery life.
Location Services:
Apple's last recommendation may not be as straightforward as the previous two, and it might demand a bit more effort, but it could be the key to significantly extending your iPhone's battery life: Location Services.
Upon downloading a new app on their iPhone, users encounter a small gray dialog box presenting various options related to granting permission for the app to access location data.
