Srinivasa Reddy Kandi: Perplexity Launches Its AI-Powered Comet Browser on Android

Perplexity Launches Its AI-Powered Comet Browser on Android:

Perplexity, the AI-focused search company, has released its Comet browser on Android, expanding the AI-driven browsing experience it first introduced on desktop in July.
The Android version brings over most of the desktop features, including the ability to set Perplexity as the default search engine and ask the assistant questions based on open tabs. Users can also speak to the assistant in voice mode, get summaries across multiple tabs, and even let Comet research or shop on their behalf — with full visibility into the assistant’s actions. An integrated ad blocker is included as well.
Perplexity says more upgrades are coming soon, such as a conversational agent capable of searching across multiple sites, quick-action shortcuts, and a full-featured password manager.
Earlier this month, the company improved the desktop Comet Assistant to handle more complex, long-running tasks, like transferring information from websites to spreadsheets.

Although Android is the first mobile platform to receive the new browser, Perplexity confirmed that iOS support is on the way. The company prioritized Android due to strong interest from carriers and device manufacturers, though no new partnerships have been announced. Perplexity had previously partnered with Motorola to preload its app on certain devices, but it has not yet clarified whether the new Comet browser will be included in that deal.
