Porsche’s Cayenne EV Delivers Supercar Specs — and a Path to Recovery:

It’s no surprise that the Porsche Cayenne EV is a powerhouse. Porsche has been quick to promote its all-electric SUV as the “most powerful,” the quickest — whether accelerating or charging — and a record-setter across multiple categories. But the real question is: just how formidable is it?

We’re finally getting a clearer picture. The Cayenne Electric is now officially joining Porsche’s existing gas and hybrid Cayenne lineup, marking what the automaker describes as “a new era for Porsche.”

That framing is fitting. Porsche, long celebrated for its engineering excellence, is navigating a turbulent moment. U.S. tariffs and an intense price war in China have contributed to significant financial strain, culminating in a $1.1 billion operating loss in the third quarter alone. Meanwhile, EV sales — particularly in the luxury segment — remain uncertain in the current market climate.

Could the Cayenne Electric be the vehicle that helps Porsche regain its footing? Its specs certainly point toward a potential turning point. The SUV delivers up to 850kW (1,139hp), sprints from 0–60 mph in 2.4 seconds, and reaches a 162 mph top speed. Under optimal conditions, it supports 400kW fast charging, allowing a 10–80% charge in just 18 minutes.

It will also be the first electric Porsche to offer inductive charging. When parked over a compatible floor plate, the Cayenne can wirelessly charge at up to 11kW.

Range estimates are strong as well: the base model is expected to achieve 642 km (about 400 miles) under WLTP testing, while the Turbo variant should reach 623 km (387 miles).
